Today was our last day at Odney and you were eager to get up and out, by the time we had woken up this was the sight which greeted us.
After breakfast we packed up and then went for a walk along the river spotting lots of dogs until you got tired and then I carried you the rest of the way back asleep. Once you woke up there was just enough time to get some lunch, go for a walk through the gardens and pay the ducks one last noisy visit….
Today was very exciting, we had breakfast, went for a quick walk and then packed up and headed off to a farm! The first thing we did was get you on to a tractor which you rather enjoyed
After the tractor we went to see the animals, you really enjoyed petting and stroking them and they enjoyed trying to nibble your shoes!
After we had petted everything there was to pet in the barn we headed out to witness some spectacular sheep racing! We even got to place a bet on who we thought would win but ours came 3rd, rubbish.
One exciting thing we found was a mummy pig who had piglets which were only two weeks old, they were tiny compared to their mum.
On previous visits to Odney we have never been able to enjoy the facilities because the weather has not been very good, that changed this trip however! We were able to make use of the outside pool and although it was a warm day the water was still a bit chilly..
After swimming we went and had a nice three course lunch (although you had quite a bit of ours) then went for a walk through the grounds whilst you rode on your trike.
You enjoyed sitting in the deck chair, although you didn’t enjoy the swings very much so we’ll have to try them again at some point. They also had some garden games out in front of the main house, you enjoyed running round with the giant Jenga but you weren’t really playing.
Today we headed off to Eton-the idea was to find you a rich man to marry you off to so that Mummy & Daddy could retire early but term time finished at the end of the week so that plan didn’t work! Afterwards we went to Windsor for a look around and walked a little way along The Long Walk and just as we got there two cars zoomed past us -one had the Queen in it!!!
There was a new fountain in Windsor commemorating the Golden Jubilee that you liked the look of and wanted to splash about in like some other children were doing but we were spoil sports and didn’t let you!
When we got back to Odney the weather was so nice that we decided to go for a walk in the garden and get some nice pictures of you to boot…
Well Isabelle today is the start of our first real holiday together, we have come to Odney in Cookham which is owned by John Lewis. It took about 2 hours to get here and luckily you had a snooze on the way. When we arrived it was too early to check in so we bought some duck food, and you really enjoyed seeing the ducks and geese at close quarters!
We went for a little walk through the village and you found a few new friends along the way – you even tried feeding our room key to the sheep!
When we got back to Odney you went for a walk in the garden and tried to chase some ducks! You decided you weren’t sure about your temporary bed (although you seemed to enjoy being in it in the daytime-See the photo) and wanted to play downstairs with us until 9.30pm. You knew it was bed time because you kept looking at us and doing ‘shhhhhhh’ and then giggling!!!! I think you were over excited by your new surroundings.
Mummy works for John Lewis and they have a lovely old house in a place called Cookham for their employees and their families to stay. We took Grandma and Grandad along on this occasion. (You had been before but you were in Mummy’s tummy then!) I think we’ll be going quite a bit over the next few years….
